Life Is Too Short

You Shouldn't Have To Hide Your Smile Or Live With Tooth Pain.

  • Are you missing one or multiple teeth?
  • Do you feel self-conscious about your smile?
  • Do you have pain or difficulty eating certain foods?

If you answered YES to any of these, rest assured that we understand what it's like and are here to help!

Dental Implant Options

The Right Type Of Dental Implants Can Change Your Life.

Single Dental Implant

Missing Just One Tooth?

Missing a single tooth can cause a cascade of other undesirable oral changes - not to mention, affect your appearance.

With a dental implant there’s no need to grind down your adjacent teeth the way you’d have to for a dental bridge. An implant won’t fall out and you never have to worry about the types of food you eat!

Multiple Dental Implants

Missing Multiple Teeth?

Missing multiple teeth can put you in danger of bone loss. Eating your favorite foods, speaking clearly and smiling naturally aren’t things you can do any longer.

Multiple dental implants are as simple to place as a single implant. With your missing teeth permanently replaced, you can start to enjoy life again!

Dental Retained Dentures

Missing All Your Teeth?

If you’re missing all of your teeth, you’ve already given up enjoying the foods you loved, being able to speak clearly and are likely too embarrassed to smile without feeling insecure.

Dental implants are the perfect solution for those suffering the loss of all of their teeth. The denture is permanently attached using dental implant posts so you don’t have to worry about them slipping or falling out!

Meet The Doctor

Expert Care To Guide You To A Healthier, Brighter Smile.

Dr. Kelly Huston

Dentistry is about more than just clean teeth. I have been fortunate to have mentors who have been fixtures in their community in addition to caring for their patients. These dentists were always people who could be depended on to help others both in and outside of their practices. The ability to help people in need is what first interested me in dentistry, and this is the standard that I hold myself to. I graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor's in Science Education and a Doctorate of Dental Surgery. While in dental school being part of that community meant working with faculty members on research projects. This lead to a position on the board of the National Student Research Group and a fellowship through the American Dental Education Association. I continue to stay engaged with the teaching and the college of dentistry by serving as an Adjunct Professor in the college's restorative clinic. Every year I spend over a hundred hours of continuing education. Through relationships with other educators and local dentists I have been able to help local study clubs bring national thought leaders to not only help our practice but others in our community. Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time playing board games and pickleball with my wife Katy. I regularly have about three different books going at a time, often one on history, another on health, and some fiction for fun (I have a particular soft spot the Harry Potter series). We have been blessed by our son Carter and three yellow labs that keep us on the move. When we do find free time we support the various groups we belong to by volunteering with our church and various health care initiatives.

Dr. Peter Blough

For me, dentistry has always been a patient-focused process. I want to help identify problems you may have and address outcomes you want to achieve. As clinicians, we have many tools at our disposal, and I want to find the right plan that meets your needs. As a person, there's nothing I enjoy more than seeing someone else smile, and I want to help make your smile everything you want it to be.

I grew up in Davenport, Iowa, the oldest of four children. After high school (Davenport Assumption '03), I went to the University of Iowa where I studied political science (B.A. '09) with minors in chemistry and biology. I continued my education at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry (DDS '13), learning lifelong lessons and making lifelong friends along the way.

My wife Jessica is the bedrock of my life, and we're enjoying the journey of raising two sons and have lived in Ankeny since 2014.
Before joining Ankeny Dental Professionals, I worked actively in public health at Dental Connections and collaborated with Des Moines Public Schools to help provide children with oral healthcare. I am also proud to be serving as a Captain with the Iowa Army National Guard since 2018.

Outside of work, I very much enjoy spending time with family, reading, and being outdoors. Fishing and skiing are two particular hobbies of mine.
I almost always have a book handy and am forever looking for recommendations. Thankfully my boys enjoy books too, and we spend time every night with several stories. I can't wait until they're able to be the ones reading to us! I look forward to meeting you and appreciate your trust in us to care for your dental needs!

Frequently Asked Questions

You Have Questions. We Have Answers.

Most of the time, the answer is YES! Most of our patients are excellent candidates for “teeth in a day” dental implants. While implant installation and temporary dental crowns can be placed in one day, most patients need approximately 6 months to completely heal prior to the final permanent prosthesis placement.

Gums do need to be healthy to support dental implants but that doesn’t mean you can’t take advantage of this permanent solution to tooth loss!

Our dentists will work with you to treat your gum disease and get your gums healthy again. Once your gums and bone area are healthy, we can move forward to placing your dental implants.

Definitely not! Dental implants are just like your real teeth. Eat crunchy, chewy food and enjoy it just as much as you did with your natural teeth!

Some dental offices need to do that, but we don’t! We are fully trained to complete your dental implant surgery from start to finish.

Age is generally not a factor, as long as you are older than 18. As long as you’re healthy enough to come to our dental office, you’re likely healthy enough to have dental implants as the permanent solution to your tooth loss

Lots of patients worry about dental pain, so let us put your mind at ease. For the dental implant surgery you’ll be numb and won’t feel a thing. It’s like taking a short nap and waking up with a new smile!

About 90% of our patients come in the next day for a follow-up with no bruising, swelling or pain. Patients generally report tolerable soreness as they heal. Occasionally a patient will have some pain, but it is uncommon and usually avoidable if you closely follow post-op instructions.
